There is always debate about intellectual property vs. physical property and the rights thereof.
In our egocentric culture, people don't question this:
How can we have such a thing a 'property' rights when the state can have eminent domain?
It goes back to an old rant of mine that the only right granted to us by nature is the right to try and live. Everything else is a tradeoff with society. Freedom is just another word for 'nuthin' left to sue (or, from the inheritance standpoint, nuthin' left to Sue).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19289966.post-1160056708002579372006-10-05T07:58:00.000-06:002006-10-05T07:58:00.000-06:00Auntigrav, you've nailed it in that ours is a cult...Auntigrav, you've nailed it in that ours is a culture of fear as most human societies have been (isn't that why religion was created, eclipsed partially by the advent of nuclear boms from 'godless enemies', and then drawn back front and centre by other's usuing the same god in a different context?). Artificial economic systems offer similar fears in poverty and those who seek to take away our consumption power. It's difficult to have a socialist culture when all the makings of that culture are egocentric. I went to http://www.derrickjensen.com , but all that came up on the screne was "Work In Progress"... unless that's meant to be deeply symbolic, I'll have a boo back there later.Ed Meershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06079101364912241838noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19289966.post-1160019224446251382006-10-04T21:33:00.000-06:002006-10-04T21:33:00.000-06:00"To be direct, sod the hullabaloo about Al-Queada,..."To be direct, sod the hullabaloo about Al-Queada, and let’s address the urban terrorist issues and social problems saturating our communities."
One and the same, dude...one and the same.
The Production/Consumption/Competition cycle has turned people against each other more than ever, where it used to be 'us' and 'them' with a border someplace that we needed to cross, now it's just 'me' and 'you' (and I've got my doubts about you).
All because we fight each day to be the cheapest to sell our lives for a little money. The paper money represents people in such a way that the value of a life is less than the cost of the paper (and now it's all just virtual paper in computers).
Humans have found that the only way to be valued any more is through inhuman acts. At least that gets them 15 minutes of Fame.
My new slogan: "If you want change, keep it in your pocket. Your dollar is your vote and the machines don't count."
Here's some reading for you: http://www.derrickjensen.comAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19289966.post-1159987924426146082006-10-04T12:52:00.000-06:002006-10-04T12:52:00.000-06:00If our nearly-cousins, chimpanzees had ipods and h...If our nearly-cousins, chimpanzees had ipods and hand guns, they'd be talking and falling out of trees, shooting monkeys for sport.
